In a developing area of Saskatoon, on the edge of the South Saskatchewan River, the building of the Alt Saskatoon hotel is integrated through the development of the River Landing which comprises three separate buildings as well as a public plaza on the edge from the river. The Alt Hotel Saskatoon is a 14-story conventional reinforced concrete building supported by a 3-story underground parking lot and adjoins a 19-story condominium building.
The main feature was the need to adapt the structural structure of the building to meet the needs of the hotel rooms without sacrificing parking spaces on the underground levels. To do this, a transfer slab was designed on the third floor to relocate almost the entire structural frame of the building.
