The present project consisted in constructing a new building in order to meet the current and future needs in fire service of the municipality of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury. The new 2-storey construction covers 10,000 square feet and has five garage doors to house trucks and various equipment. The building also includes bedrooms for firefighters, a kitchen, administrative offices, storage, a training area, a workshop and a multipurpose room. The new barracks will allow the municipality to maintain quality service for its citizens.
In order to allow firefighters to train inside the fire station, the firefighters have access, on the mezzanine floor, to a manhole in order to practice realistic rescue simulations, within a safe working environment. Outdoor facilities such as vehicular and pedestrian traffic, parking areas for vehicles and bicycles as well as landscaping were also part of the project.
