The construction project for seniors' homes and alternative pavilions is a project that the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) has carried out to create accommodation and a place of long-term care in a living environment close to of the home where the elders live before being welcomed into the institutional environment. Through this project, carried out with the collaboration of the SQI, the MSSS wanted a housing concept that creates a representative and flexible living environment where each senior can continue their personal and social journey while receiving the appropriate care and services adapted to their needs. their terms. The MSSS aspires to a living environment that integrates with the environment in which it will be established, that is scalable, safe and adapted to the different conditions of the elders living there.
This large-scale $2.6 billion project consists of the construction of 46 residences of different sizes (48, 96, 144 or 192 beds) located throughout Quebec. For the realization of this project, a master team made up of architects, structural/civil engineers and electromechanical engineers was formed under the guidance of the SQI. EMS was part of the master team for the structural and civil engineering disciplines. The 46 MDA project was divided into 4 components, namely: Component A - Functional and technical program of the 46 residences carried out by EMS | Part B – Performance specifications, design review and surveillance audit carried out by for 14 residences in Design-Build mode | Part C - Design review and surveillance audit carried out by EMS for 24 residences designed by other firms | Part D - P&D and supervision of 8 residences designed by EMS.
