The project consisted of transforming and bringing up to standards the existing building F.X. Drolet, built in 1908, to create the new municipal court of the city of Quebec. This building also serves as a service point for the Quebec City Police and as a satellite detention center. With a total area of 5,250m2 spread over 3 floors, the building has a classified heritage value of "important." Originally of industrial purpose, the building, constructed in the early 20th century, was restored in the 1990s with the purpose of storing the archives of the City of Quebec. Before undertaking the current transformation project, levels 2 and 3 of the building were occupied by the Quebec City Property Management Service. On the first level, there were some vehicle storage spaces and repair workshops. The new municipal court of Quebec includes a municipal court sector (registry, court management and administration, courtrooms and interview rooms, IMPAC, judiciary, prosecutors), a satellite detention center (identification and interrogation of detainees, secure guard), and a service point of the Quebec City Police Service (cell block, reception area, support spaces for the patrol unit of the sector, and territorial surveillance).
