EMS services have been selected to take over the plans and specifications for the expansion of the Centre Alphonse-Desjardins in Lévis . The expansion of 6,500 square meters on three floor levels, with the possibility of eventually support two additional floors for future total area of 17,700 square meters project. To minimize the impact of changes required in other disciplines, a hybrid concept of lateral forces resisting system (structural steel for shear walls with reinforced concrete slabs traditional) have been developed. Plans and specifications were prepared in an accelerated mode, whereas the contractor was already mobilized. Extensive demolition was required to redo parts of the nonconforming structure already completed.
