As one of the most important project in Canada, the wind farm covers a vast wooded area. The Lac Alfred wind farm is located in the municipalities of Saint-Cleophas, St. Irene, St. Zeno-du-Lac-Humqui and the unorganized territory (UT) Lac-Alfred in the MRC de La Matapedia and in the municipality of La Redemption and the UT Lac-à-la-Croix in the MRC de La Mitis. More than 1100 workers have worked on this project during the three years working time. At peak in the summer of 2012, there were 400 workers on site.
Located on a forested and mountainous area, the proposed Lake Alfred wind farm is developed with the support of the population and land users. With 300 MW and 150 toers, the wind farm will be among the largest in the country in terms of installed capacity. It is located on the municipal areas of Baie-des-Sables and Métis-sur-Mer.
For the Lac-Alfred wind farm, EMS had the responsibility to do a technical audit of the drawings and specifications and also to actively participate in the design review within workshops of value engineering to ensure project compliance with normative standards of the manufacturer while ensuring cost optimization of the project.
