The Rivière-du-Moulin wind farm is located entirely on public land in the unorganized territory (UT) Lake Pikauba in the MRC of Charlevoix and Lac-Ministuk UT in the Fjord-du Saguenay.
With a capacity of 350 MW, this project will be the largest of Canada after its commissioning. The area of the park is covered by forest roads that can be used.
The investment associated with this project is estimated at $800 million. The wind farm will be completed in two phases: 150 MW will be built in 2013 for a commissioned on 1 December 2014, and 200 MW will be built in 2014 for commissioning on December 1, 2015 will be composed of 175 wind turbines with a capacity of 2 MW each.
On this important project, EMS was responsible for designing the foundation for each tower where they has been optimized according to the geotechnical conditions encountered. To do this, manufacturers criteria were followed and adapted to Canadian standards in a way to design the bases following the ultimate, usage and fatigue limits states. EMS also provided technical coordination with the client's technical staff and turbine manufacturer and also provided on-site supervision.
